Lecroy To Manage Suns
One of the Lancaster Barnstormers' stars from last season is calling it a career.

Matt LeCroy has decided to retire as a player and become the manager of the Single-A Hagerstown Suns, a Washington Nationals affiliate.

LeCroy, 32, played parts of eight seasons in the big leagues, mostly with the Minnesota Twins. The Nationals offered him the managing job in Hagerstown prior to the 2007 season, but he declined because he still wanted to play. Lancaster native Tom Herr ended up managing the Suns that year.

In his one season with the Barnstormers, LeCroy batted .326 with 22 homers and 83 RBIs in 94 games. He was named an Atlantic League second team all-star.

There was talk of LeCroy returning to the Barnstormers in 2009 as either a player or player/coach, but he opted to make the jump to affiliated ball instead.
