WASHINGTON (AP) - The Washington Nationals are optioning right-hander Saul Rivera to Triple-A Syracuse to make room on the roster for lefty reliever Joe Beimel's return from the 15-day disabled list.
Manager Manny Acta announced the moves after Washington's game Tuesday.Beimel will be available for Wednesday's game at the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has been out since April 20, when he strained his left hip flexor while making a defensive play.
Rivera was 0-3 with a 9.28 ERA in nine appearances entering Tuesday, when he threw one perfect inning.
