MEDICAL WATCH:
CF Lastings Milledge (right groin strain) went on the 15-day disabled list June 29. He will be out two to four weeks. RHP Shawn Hill (sore right forearm) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 25. Tests showed no structural damage, and he will rest indefinitely before starting a throwing program.
RF Austin Kearns (bone fragments in right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 18. He had surgery May 23 to remove the fragments. He began a minor league rehab assignment June 26, and he could return to the Nationals during the first weekend of July.
3B Ryan Zimmerman (slight tear in left labrum) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 26. He started lifting weights in late June, and he could begin swinging a bat during the first week of July. There was still no timetable for Zimmerman's return.
RHP Chad Cordero (strained right latissimus muscle) went on the 15-day disabled list April 30. He was diagnosed with a torn labrum in his right shoulder on June 30, and he will undergo season-ending surgery.
C Johnny Estrada (inflamed right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 1. Dr. James Andrews put him on a rehabilitation program in mid-May, and he hopes to return in June.
RHP Ryan Wagner (right shoulder surgery in June 2007) opened the season on the 15-day disabled list, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on May 23.
1B Nick Johnson (torn tendon sheath in right wrist) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 14, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on June 26. He had surgery June 24, and he will miss the rest of the season.
